Australia is blessed with abundant sunshine. In fact, it’s the sunniest continent on the planet. From the tropics in the north to the dust bowls in the interior, Australia receives enough annual sunshine to power itself over 10,000 times every year.
Australia also has the highest energy use per person of any major economy, with almost 17 tonnes of Carbon dioxide emitted by each Australian each year. This is over three times as much as the global average.
Despite its brilliant sunshine and its huge appetite for energy, Australia is lagging behind its global competitors in the uptake of solar generation. With only 1% of its energy mix stemming from PV, we believe there to be huge scope in transforming Australia’s energy generation. In this guise, we hope to provide a meaningful contribution towards the Renewable Energy Target.
What we do
We organise the development of solar farms, taking projects from initial site selection up to the point at which they are ready to be built. As an independent developer, we are able to combine the best locations, technology and partners for the realisation of high quality photovoltaic projects.
Luminous Energy takes a collaborative approach during the development process and recognises the importance for this to be informed by the needs of landowners, local authorities and statutory agencies.
The most important aspect of developing a solar farm is building a healthy relationship with the landowner. Luminous strives to keep the landowner fully informed throughout each step of the journey.
We take the project through all the necessary legislative constraints, working with local planning authorities to ensure it complies with environmental and planning legislation.
We conduct detailed grid feasibility studies and work closely with the distribution network, ensuring that the project can be up and running in as little time as possible.
Luminous takes projects all the way until they are shovel ready. At this point Luminous will work with the best construction partners to ensure the solar farm is built on time and under budget.
